The West Coast Chapter returned to Champion Equipment in Paramount, California for our Winter Board Meeting on January 10, 2015. WCC meetings at Champion are very well attended; Vincent Jue and his entire organization always make us feel welcome, after being away for a couple of years it was very nice to be back in Paramount.
We incorporated the electronic meeting into this physical meeting, inviting Rick Marshall (Goettle, Inc.) to join us for a special Safety Presentation. We also had several remote attendees join us for the majority of the meeting. Rick’s presentation “ADSC and how it works for you” was informative, educational, and a great addition to our meeting. The membership agrees that the electronic meeting is worth continuing to use, and learn how to use! Moving ahead, we are hoping to be able to offer Electronic Meeting attendance to all of our chapter meetings as a way to make it easier to stay included. Champion Equipment purchased a corporate membership for the WCC’s use.
Mike Walton with Employer’s Advocate reported on the very successful Drill Rig Operators School held with Local 302/612 in Bothell, Washington in November 2014. Local 3 has agreed to hold a DROS with the WCC every other year for the next six years. The first of these is scheduled for March 26-28, 2015. Jason Malcolm and John Roe are looking for volunteers to help with this DROS.
For the Education Committee, Rick Walsh with Hayward Baker, reminded everyone that the WCC tabletop and PowerPoint is available for members use, encouraging everyone to reach out to local Universities. The Chapter held an Education lunch meeting December 1st at UCLA. The Education Session for our Annual May meeting will be put together by Will Gehrke with Case Pacific and Steve Williams with Condon-Johnson; they hope to have the schedule set by the end of February – if you have a great educational presentation, please contact them.
A recurrent theme of this meeting was our need for photographs! The WCC desperately needs photos for our PowerPoint presentation and the new website. Vincent Jue with Champion Equipment generously donated a GoPro Hero3 to whoever submits the best photograph, or video, for the WCC to use. Contact beckypatterson@adscwest.org for details.
We are thrilled to announce that we went live with the new WCC website on January 1st. As noted, we need photographs and are still ironing out the Advertising options but are very happy with it. I invite everyone to please, take a look at the site and let me know what you think – www.adscwest.org
