After a seemingly endless string of online meetings, we finally met in-person on September 11, 2021. Thanks so much to our wonderful host Champion Equipment, they always make our meetings run smoothly and make everyone feel welcome.
DOT & Labor Committees: Washington Operating Engineers Local 302 and 612 both ratified their collective bargaining agreements for a three-year period, 2021-2024. We are working with Local 3 to plan a several-days long, more in-depth Drill Rig Operator School that incorporates Drill Rig Operator Certification. The target date is spring 2022.
Safety: Serving our alliance with Oregon OSHA, we held two half-day (virtual) safety sessions on June 16th and 17th, attended by over 100 participants from OSHA personnel to contractors and insurance representatives, union labor, etc. Our thanks again to Dan Crawford, DBM Contractors; Matt Jannings, Pacific Foundation; and Rick Marshall, ADSC for their efforts. And a HUGE thank you to Craig Hamelund, Oregon OSHA! Craig brings great energy and enthusiasm to his work and helps keep this alliance thriving. These sessions were very well received, we look forward to having more in the future – full videos of the sessions can be found on the Resources page at http://adscwest.org/
NCCCO ADSC Drill Rig Operator Certification: Champion Equipment is now site-certified as a host location for NCCCO exams. Condon Johnson held a practical exam for a handful of their employees in July to ensure that Bob Federighi kept his Practical Examiner credentials current – thanks to Ray Fassett and Condon Johnson for their help. Legacy Foundation and Sacramento Drilling are planning practical exams soon at their locations. We will do our best to keep Bob busy getting our West Coast Chapter drill rig operators certified! Please contact beckypatterson@adscwest.org if you are interested in NCCCO Drill Rig Operator Certification.
WCC housekeeping: The 2022 budget was approved. The minutes from our 2021 Annual Meeting are approved and available on the Resources tab on our website. http://adscwest.org/
Request for funding: Tait McCutchan, Malcolm Drilling, presented a funding request proposal prepared by Peter Faust on “Industry-Wide Working Group on Working Platforms.” The Board asked for more information and specifics on costs and deliverables, etc. We will keep this item on the agenda as Old Business for further discussion.
