The West Coast Chapter Winter Board Meeting was held via Zoom on January 20, 2022. Our thanks to all who were able to join the meeting.
Originally planned as an in-person meeting, Covid restrictions forced us to hold this meeting virtually. Thanks to PJ’s Rebar for volunteering to be the host. The scheduled Associate Presentation from Watson is postponed until the Fall Board Meeting.
Work continues for our members, but Covid has prevented many of the DOT committees from meeting. WSDOT and CalTrans are finally planning some in-person meetings; everyone is optimistic that things are starting to truly open back up.
The chapter is thrilled to be working with Local3 to hold another Drill Rig Operator’s training in April at their Rancho Murieta training facility. Due to an accounting error at Local3, our budget for the class is much larger than in previous years, allowing us to offer five days of training! We are still working out all the details but hope to include CCCO certification as part of the operator training. Will Gehrke, Case Pacific, is heading up this effort and is going to need equipment/product/instructors, etc., please contact Will if you can help.
West Coast Chapter Practical Examiner Robert Federighi held exams at Legacy Foundations in December 2021, all nine candidates passed. Western Equipment Solutions is planning a Practical Exam some time in February, contact Steve Wilson for details.
Membership remains steady, the chapter welcome two new members – Blue Iron, LLC and Drillers Choice.
After two years of virtual meetings, we are looking forward to our 38th Annual Meeting in Pismo Beach, May 19-21st. The chapter has been going to The Cliffs periodically since 1984; we love this place! Be sure to make room reservations early, we always sell-out this hotel. Beginning with Golf at Monarch Dunes, our three-day meeting is always an action-packed event, but this year will be extra special. The education session includes a town-hall forum with Kevin Sharp, Bob Federighi, and Rick Marshall aimed to encourage conversation about recruiting/training/certifying/ and retaining personnel. Our Past President’s will gather for a Long-Range Planning meeting Friday afternoon, followed up by our Friday night dinner with auction. We will present Emeritus Awards to several people who have volunteered their time and efforts to strengthen and improve the chapter, please join us as we celebrate our latest Hall of Fame. Saturday morning is the 38th Annual Board Meeting where members will select two new directors for the Board along with all the regular chapter business.
