The West Coast Chapter held its Fall Board Meeting on September 22nd via Zoom. Thanks to everyone who joined the meeting.
DOT & Labor Reports
WCC continues to work with the DOTs in our region, encouraging conversation and cooperation. WSDOT taskforce will be meeting in October after a long break due to Covid. AZDOT is currently asking for input on their drilled shaft specifications. Please share your comments about concrete slump retention times and testing issues with Aaron Thomas. Caltrans has made changes to the Standard Specifications, specifically post-bid qualification requirements. The committee is working with Caltrans to resolve.
Operating Engineers Local 3 in cooperation with the WCC Union Labor Fund is hosting a Drill Rig Operators Training Class, December 5-9 in Rancho Murietta, CA. There are still a few spaces available for candidates from signatory companies. We NEED HELP – four drill rigs and four instructors, please contact Will Gehkre to volunteer!
Safety Committee and NCCCO Training Program
WCC reminds everyone we have Bob Federighi as a practical examiner willing to come to your location and proctor exams on your equipment for NCCCO Drill Rig Operator Certification. We continue to work on the idea of a Challenge and prize for the company certifying the most employees per year.
Our Safety Committee is holding monthly meetings via Zoom, all are encouraged to participate. This is a great open platform to engage together and share best practices. Each meeting is filled with information and education opportunities. Jared Bradt, Condon-Johnson, has extended a Lift Director Training opportunity to all WCC members. This training is in cooperation with Lampson Crane.
WCC Housekeeping
The 2023 budget was approved. The minutes from our 2022 Annual Meeting have been approved and are available on the Resources tab on our website. www.adscwest.org
Membership remains steady with 38 Associates and 35 Contractors. The Chapter welcomed new member Z Systems.
